How to Transfer Data to a New Phone Safely and Completely

Migration is not complete when photos and contacts appear. Authentication accounts, eSIM, banking apps, and chat history also require verification.

Prepare

Update and charge both phones, create a fresh backup, check cloud capacity, and inventory authenticators and recovery codes. Do not reset the old phone.

Run the transfer

Prefer the operating system vendor’s migration tool and use a cable for large datasets. Keep devices close and on the same network, and read unsupported-data warnings.

Verify before erasing

Check calls, messages, photos, notes, chats, 2FA, eSIM, banking, and wearables. Use the new phone for several days and create another backup before signing out and resetting the old one.
